IShowSpeed has built an empire out of reactions too large to hide. So when the drums changed underneath his own voice, there was never going to be a polite, unreadable response.
“World Cup” arrived in November 2022 at the exact intersection of football, streaming and meme culture. Speed was already inseparable from the sport online: Cristiano Ronaldo devotion, FIFA streams, the “Siuuu” heard across bedrooms and school hallways. Ahead of the tournament in Qatar, he turned that obsession into a song.
The record worked because it sounded like the internet experiencing the World Cup at full volume. Speed shouted country names, turned a simple chant into a hook, and performed with the same restless energy that made his streams impossible to clip into a single definitive moment. That size changes the risk of touching the song. Everyone already knows where each word lands. A weak remix only makes the listener miss the original. jalenrekt’s job was to find energy the anthem had not used yet.
His flip pulled “World Cup” into the drill language he was shaping across his channel. The familiar chant remained intact, but new drums changed its posture. The song no longer charged straight ahead. It bounced, paused and hit from underneath, giving Speed’s voice a different kind of force.
